Man Who Shoots Mother-in-Law Suicides
The young man, Guadalupe Vives Miranda, who was known in the areas as "Lupe" was found dead from a self inflicted wound on Thursday morning about 300 metres from where he shot dead his mother-in-law on Wednesday night.

Zoila Rosa Valerio Mejías, 32, was shot three times to the chest by Lupe following a discussion with the mother of his girlfriend and her husband, who received a gunshot wound to the hand, saying he is alive because the gun jammed.

Lupe was found face down on the ground with the weapon firmly in his hand under him.

According to witnesses, an argument arose when the young man went to see his 16 year old girlfriend for the last time. The girl was breaking up with him because her mother was not happy with the relationship.

Antolín Quintero Vergara, the young girl's stepfather said that the young man wanted to kill the his girlfriend as well, after shooting the mother. The gun refused to fire while the young man held the gun to the Quintero's head after shooting him on the hand, so he fled.

Police were alerted and gave chase but lost him in the darkness of the night. Two women out for their regular morning walk discovered the body and called the authorities.

The trajedy began on Wednesday morning in the small town of Naranjo, west of San José, when the young man went to visit his girlfriend and was turned away at the door by the girl's mother, this according to a cousin of the dead woman, who lives in the house.

"Maria told my aunt that she was going to talk to Lupe. They were outside for some time talking when about 1pm he left", said Steven Mejía.

"Lupe returned before dark, sat near the window and began to cry and said he was armed and that he had been practising firing his gun. I didn't believe he was going to use it", added Mejía.

Shortly after 7pm and took his revenge on the woman.
