Fidel Castro Accuses Bush of
Lying
Cuban President Fidel Castro
said on Thursday that the US
people will never forgive their
rulers for their lies and deceit
about Cuban-born terrorists who
operate in that country.
In a new call for Washington to
take actions against Posada
Carriles, Orlando Bosch and
other terrorists historically
based on US soil, the Cuban
president accused the White
House of covering up the truth
behind these sinister
characters.
Based on de-classified documents
in the United States, Fidel
Castro proved that its rulers
know perfectly well who Posada
Carriles, Bosch, Guillermo Novo
Sampoll and other criminals are,
and unveiled their links with US
institutions involved in the
covert war against Cuba.
He recalled that 29 years after
the assassination of former
Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando
Letelier and the sabotage of a
Cuban airliner that killed all
73 people on board, Washington
continues to provide support and
refuge to these people, even
though it knows they are
responsible for such actions.
Within that context, Fidel
Castro reminded of last year,
when former US State Secretary
Colin Powel traveled to Panama
to intercede on behalf of Posada
Carriles, Novo Sampoll and two
other terrorists.
The malignant quartet was
serving time in that country for
plotting to assassinate
President Fidel Castro during a
public event at the 10th Ibero-American
Summit in November 2000.
Fidel Castro said that after ex-Panamian
President Mireya Moscoso
pardoned the four terrorists,
three of them traveled
immediately to Miami, where they
were welcomed as heroes amidst
full complicity with US
authorities.
Regarding Posada Carriles, he
repeated that his entry into the
country nearly two months ago on
board the ship Santrina, without
being detected by US security
systems, is unbelievable. All
this time and Washington has not
made a statement in this regard.
"Who is going to believe that
the government does not know how
and why Posada Carriles entered
US territory, or where he is at
present?" he wondered.
"I think that US public will
never forgive the government for
how much it has lied," said
Fidel Castro.
The Cuban president said that it
is time to arrest Posada
Carriles and deport him to
Venezuela, from where he escaped
in 1985 while he was serving
time for exploding a the Cuban
airliner in 1976.
On Wednesday, the Cuban
president announced a massive
march in Havana next Tuesday to
demand justice in the cases of
Posada Carriles and his
accomplices, and called for an
end to US support of terrorists
who operate against Cuba.
The march is not against the
United States, it is against
terrorism, insisted the Cuban
president, whose televised
appearances have unveiled the
links between US authorities and
organizations of Cuban origin
bent on destabilizing Cuba.
