Toledo For President? Maybe, As He Announces His Candidacy for the PUSC Nomination
Ricardo Toledo, former Minister for the Presidency and a close friend of President Abel Pacheco, decided to stop the "I don't know" and "maybe" and declared his candidacy for the presidential nominee for the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC).

Toledo made his announcement late Wednesday, before taking a short vacation with his family to enjoy the balance of the Semana Santa. Toledo also announced that will be removing his name for candidate for president of the Legislative Assembly, since he cannot hold both positions.

The former minister denies that he is the "pachequista" card in the next election that will face former president Oscar Arias for the Partido Liberacion Nacional (PLN). Toledo said, "with all respect, I will continue to be Ricardo Toledo", even though he confessed that Pacheco wished him the best and a 'thousand benedictions'.

Toledo recognizes that, if he is nominated to head his party, he has a "big job" ahead of him as his party has suffered much damage during the past year, equating it a "9" earthquake, with two former presidents, both of the PUSC party, under investigation for corruption.

Toledo's announcement came as no surprise to many. For weeks there was speculation that he would make his candidacy known, though he denied or evaded any questions to the possibility.
