American Stabbed to Death in His Apartment
The Fuerza Pública were called yesterday afternoon when 65 year old American Edward John Shoppock did answer the repeated knocks on his apartment door. The 30 year old woman called on the owner of the property to open the door when the Shoppock did not come to the door and became worried.

Entering the Shoppock apartment located in Villa García in San Rafael de Escazú, the two women discovered the man's body, face down in a pool of blood, prompting a call to police and the Red Cross.

According to the police report, Shoppock was stabbed several times, possibly by a machete. The man was lying in a pool of dried blood leading authorities to believed the man had been dead for a couple days.

The ladies told police that they entered the apartment when the man did not answer and after detecting a foul smell coming from the residence. No one had seen Shoppock come or go for the last several days.

Police are not giving out too much detail about the case, only saying that there was no sign of a struggle or forced entry, believing that the attacker was known to the man.

Neighbours said that they had heard an argument coming from the apartment late Monday night but didn't give it much importance.
