Nicaragua Seen as Investment Hot
Spot
What's the next 'it' country for
American investors and
companies?
That would be Nicaragua, said
Randy Avon, a Fort Lauderdale
investment banker.
"It's quite a happening place,"
Avon said. "Nicaragua is where
Costa Rica was eight years ago
and where Chile was 12 years
ago."
Avon is chairman of the closing
ceremony Tuesday for a meeting
of the 34-nation Organization of
American States, which is
convening in Fort Lauderdale.
"I just returned from
Nicaragua," Avon said. "They're
talking about a new cruise port
there."
Avon also is hosting a private
dinner Monday night in honor of
the OAS. The guest of honor will
be Eduardo Montealegre,
Nicaragua's chief of staff and
presidential minister.
Al Zucaro, president of the
World Trade Center Palm Beach,
and Port of Palm Beach
Commissioner Ed Oppel are among
20 people expected to attend the
dinner.
