Was it Wet Enough for You
Yesterday?
Reports of water damage and
heavy rains came in from all
areas as the Central Valley (San
José) and the North and Central
Pacific areas were inundated
with "aguaceros" - downpours -
for most the day and into the
night.
According to records by the
Instituto Meteorológico Nacional
(IMN) - the weatherman -
yesterday was the "wettest" day
of the year, when 67 millimetres
(2.64 inces) of rain fall on the
capital (San José).
The IMN says a tropical wave
affected most of the country,
but should improve today as the
weather conditions passes us.
Though it will surely rain, as
it is customary for the season,
but we shouldn't get heavy rain
which is normal in
September/October.
Areas of San José most affected
by the rain were Desamparados,
Aljuelita, Hatillo and Tíbas.
Normal conditions for this time
of year are sunny and hot until
noon, clouding over followed by
showers or rain as the weather
conditions moves over the area
and then clearing up for the
dinner hour.
It is unusual for it to rain all
day and into the evening, as it
did yesterday. Also, weather
conditions can dramatically be
different from one area to the
next, that is it could be
raining heavily in San Pedro,
while the sun in shining in La
Sabana park, only a few miles to
the west.
