Investment in Medical Sector
The investment by firms of the
medical supply sector in Costa
Rica reached us$178 million this
year, includingus $8 million from
four new companies and us$170
million in new investment by
firms already operating here.
For the coming year, it has been
confirmed that an additional us$30
million will be invested in the
sector.
The information was
disclosed by Edna Camacho,
director general of the Costa
Rican Coalition for Development
Initiatives (CINDE in Spanish).
She added that 18 companies of
the sector are operating here
now and that they employ some
5,000 people. Regarding their
exports, they have increased
from us$100 million in 1999 to
us$543 million in 2004.
