Two Tons of Cocaine Seized
A U.S. Coast Guard cutter, part of the Costa Rica-U.S. anti-drug joint effort, caught a Costa Rican fishing boat which carried over 2 tons of cocaine.

The capture took place in international waters, as a result of a routine inspection by the Coast Guard.

The six crewmen of the Princesa de Drake - four Ticos, a Colombian, and a Guatemalan - were arrested and, with the drug, placed at the order of Costa Rican courts, because of the registry of the vessel.

Apparently, the drug was destined to the U.S. market. So far this year, the different Costa Rican law-enforcement agencies, with the support of U.S. authorities, have confiscated more than 9.8 tons of cocaine.
