US Bail Denied to Cuban Warlords
Judge James Cohn has denied bail to Cuban terrorists Santiago Alvarez and Osvaldo Mitat, accused with possession of an arsenal of criminal firearms.

He said the weapons were highly dangerous and have no use other than "hurting people."

Santiago Alvarez, 64, is known to have a close relationship with fugitive from Venezuelan justice Luis Posada Carriles, who is currently enjoying protection of US authorities.

Local media says Alvarez is part of a group that helped Posada illegally enter the US with one of his boats.

He and Mitat have been accused with seven counts of possession of illegal weapons, including machine guns, grenades and launchers, as well as equipment for detonating explosives.

Far right groups are protesting a prosecution motion to hold the trial outside of Miami with a jury that won´t bend to their pressure.

Prosecution sources say Fort Lauderdale or another state would be preferable.

Alvarez and Mitat will appear in court Tuesday in Miami to be accused.
