OIJ Clears Up Case of Murdered American
Though the motive for the murder of 33 year old American, Benjamin Daniels Woods, is not known as yet, the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) has two suspects in custody and are now trying to put the pieces together.

Two youths walking along an isolated road in Turrúcares (west of San José) discovered the body of the American last Thursday. The body was found wrapped in a blanket with a bullet to the eye. The body of  was found about three kilometers from the suspect's house, with it's feet and hands tied.

The two suspects in custody are identified as a 67 year old American by the last name of Emmett and a 24 year old Colombian woman who goes by the last name of Corrales. Both are being held in six months preventive detention as ordered by the Juzgado Penal de Alajuela and are believed to have caused the death of Woods.

According to police, Woods worked for couple in a commercial centre and and lived with them. A problem arose between friends.

A girlfriend of Woods helped police retrace the man's last steps and learned of the relationship he maintained with the couple.

A guard stationed outside of the house told police he heard a gunshot and saw the couple leave the house but Woods never came out.

Once police learned of the shooting, they centred their investigation around the couple and in a matter of hours they traced blood  from the blanket used to wrap the body to Emet's car and recovered three handguns in the house.
