54 US-Bound Migrants
To Await Deportation
The 54 US bound migrants picked up off the
coast of Limón are being held at the
immigration holding centre in Hatillo
awaiting deportation. The group from Africa,
Nepal and other African countries were
detained after their boat arrived on the
country's Caribbean coast, officials said on
Sunday.

"independence day" torch arrived in Costa
Rica at Peñas Blancas, where it was received

Defensoría Says ICE Should Compensate
Customers For Delay In Electrical Rate
Reduction
In a letter to Fernando Herrero, the
regulador general, the head of the Defensor
Adjunto de los Habitantes, Daniel Soley, is
asking that the Institution Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) should be ordered to
compensate customers the amount equal to the
7% reduction that was stalled for 10 days.

Foreigners Choose
Costa Rica De-Stress
Each year up to 280.000 foreigners choose
Costa Rica to de-stress, taking refuge in
hotels and resorts for activities like yoga,
thermal baths, therapeutic massages and good
nutrition, according to a report by the
Spanish language newspaper, La Nación.

In an unusual sight yesterday, many
Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad
(ICE) agencies were open on Sunday to attend
to cellular phone customers with problems
with the unification of the cellular
networks that occurred on Saturday.
