Guatemala to File Demand for Sedition

Guatemala -  The State of Guatemala will file demands for sedition when the murder of lawyer Rodrigo Rosernberg is cleared up with the capture of those who planned the crime, affirmed president Alvaro Colom.

The charges will be aimed against the organizers of "public movements whose objective was not to demand justice, but to topple a government, becoming judges and provoking destabilization in the country, says an official information published today.

This conveys the president´s confidence in the capacity of the Ministry of Justice and the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala to detain the crime planners and clear up the case.

Once this has been done, the judicial demands will be filed, explains the note published in the digital website of the Presidency without specifying in what moment Colom made his statements after the arrest of nine people involved in the crime.

The nine people arrested are suspected to carry out the attack on Rosenberg and are part of a band previously charged with assaults, drug trafficking, money laundering, kidnaps and extorsion.
