Only 64% Of High School
Students Passed National
Exams
The results of this
years national "bachillerato"
exams are in and the
picture doesn't look to
good, as the Ministerio
de Educación Pública (MEP),
reports only a 64% pass
rate, down from 67% last
year.

Plena II del Congreso
approved the bill "Ley
de Regulación de las
Escuelas de Manejo" - a
law regulating driving
schools.
BID Approves Another
us$500 Million Dollars

The Banco Interamericano
de Desarrollo (BID) has
approved a us$500
million dollar line of
credit to the Banco
Central de Costa Rica (BCCR)
- Central Bank - so that
the institution will
have sufficient dollars
on hand so as to be
fully liquid in the
currency at all times.
HSBC To Sell INS
Products
Costa Rica's state
insurer, the Instituto
Nacional de Seguros
(INS) and the
London-based HSBC unit
in Costa Rica have
signed an agreement
under which the bank
will sell INS insurance
products, INS said
in a press release.
