Volaris now offers flights from Costa Rica to Cancun and Mexico City from $230 round-trip, taxes included

September 14th, 2015 (ICR News) The “ultra low-cost” Mexican airline, Volaris began offering round trip flights between Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and the Mexican cities of Cancun and Mexico City’s Guadalajara airport from just US $230 round-trip, with taxes included. The inaugural flight to Guadalajara took place on Thursday.
Both flights depart SJO on Thursdays and Sundays and are available for immediate booking.
Flights bound for Cancun will depart SJO at 11:25 a.m. and arrive in Cancun 2:40 p.m. local time. The flight returns at 4:15 p.m., arriving at SJO at 5:35 p.m.
Flights bound for Guadalajara depart from SJO at 7:05 p.m. and arrive in Mexico City at 11:30 p.m. local time. Return flights from Mexico City depart at 7:20 a.m. and arrive in Costa Rica at 9:55 a.m.
The airline also offers continuing routes from Cancun and Mexico City to the United States.
The new routes add to a string of new routes announced in recent weeks.
Nature Air earlier this month announced it would double its fleet and would soon offer service to Ometepe and Costa Esmeralda in Nicaragua and the city of David in Panama. Nature Air’s main domestic competitor, SANSA, also added two new Cessna Caravan 208B’s to its fleet last month.
On August 31st, Air Panama announced it would begin providing service from San Jose to Bocas del Toro, Panama with a stopover in David beginning at just $99 each way starting on October 1st.
Meanwhile, Air Costa Rica, which is actually a joint venture with Air Panama, successfully concluded the certification process to become an official air carrier last month.
Air Costa Rica plans to offer daily direct flights from San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua and Guatemala by the end of the year.
