Nature Air invests $2.5 million to double its fleet, says new Nicaragua, Panama routes coming soon

September 4th, 2015 (ICR News) Costa Rica air carrier, Nature Air announced on Thursday the purchase of four additional aircraft to expand its fleet with an investment of US $2.5 million, which will double the company’s fleet to eight aircraft.
The new aircraft are Czech-manufactured LET-L410 turboprop aircraft with twin engines, model year 2004, at a cost of $625,000 each.
The new aircraft are scheduled to enter service in December, and the airline said it has plans to acquire two additional aircraft in 2016.
The airline said that it plans to offer new routes as a result of acquiring the new aircraft, including routes to Ometepe and Costa Esmeralda in Nicaragua and the city of David in Panama.
Nature Air’s main domestic competitor, SANSA, also added two new Cessna Caravan 208B’s to its fleet last month.
On Monday, Air Panama announced it would begin providing service from San Jose to Bocas del Toro, Panama with a stopover in David beginning at just $99 each way starting on October 1st.
Meanwhile, Air Costa Rica, which is actually a joint venture with Air Panama, successfully concluded the certification process to become an official air carrier last month.
Air Costa Rica plans to offer daily direct flights from San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua and Guatemala by the end of the year.
