Pope Benedict XVI
Invited To Visit Costa
Rica
According to the Bishop
of the Diocese of
Alajuela, monseñor Ángel
Sancasimiro, is Pope
Benedict XVI visits
Mexico in January 2009,
there is the strong
possibility that the
Pontiff may make his way
to Costa Rica.
The monseñor made his
comments on Radio
América.
The Pope has been
invited to stop in Costa
Rica by the Grupo Extra
in a letter to monseñor
Ángel Sancasimiro who
said he forwarded it to
the Pope, who was very
pleased to have
received, among the many
he letters he receives
regularly, from a press
group.
"I told his Holy Father,
that the group does not
have long history in the
communications field but
has always been
objective with its
reporting of the
church's views", said
monseñor Ángel
Sancasimiro.
Grupo Extra publishes
what it calls the "most
sold" newspaper in the
country, Diario Extra,
in addition to the
Prensa Libre and its
radio broadcasts on
Radio América and
television station Extra
42.
The monseñor added that
the Pope was pleased
with the invitation and
said that the press
should always be on the
side of the truth. The
monseñor added that he
told the Pope "they
desire that, if you can
visit Costa Rica, to
have the gift of your
presence".
The monseñor said that
he cannot commit himself
to if the Pope will
visit Costa Rica when he
visits Mexico City to
attend the 2009 World
Meeting of Families,
which will have as its
theme, “The family:
teacher of human and
Christian values".
