Strong Winds And Cold
With Us Until Friday
A cold front from the
North has brought with
it strong winds, cold
temperatures and showers
in most parts of Costa
Rica, and will continue
to do so until Friday,
according to the
Instituto Meteorológico
Nacional (IMN) -
national weather
service.
The cold front that has
been with us since
Sunday intensified
Tuesday night with cold
rain of variable
intensity in parts of
the Central Valley,
Northern Zone and the
Caribbean.
The Comisión Nacional de
Emergencias (CNE) -
national emergency
commission - declared
yesterday a "green"
alert for areas like
Upala, Los Chiles, San
Carlos and Guatuso, all
in the northern zone and
for all areas of Limón
province.
IMN's Rebeca Morera
explains that the cold
weather felt in Costa
Rica is due to changes
in the northern
hemisphere as it enters
winder.
Temperatures in Alajuela
dropped to a low of 17
Celsius, in Limón 21
Celsius, 22C in Liberia
and a chilly 14 in
Cartago. Normal low
