Bolivian Truck Tumbles
Off Cliff, At Least 46
Killed
At least 46 people were
killed and 11 injured
Tuesday when a truck
fell off a
300-meter-high cliff in
southwestern Bolivian
province of Potosi,
highway police said.
Five of the injured were
said to be in serious
condition.
According to reports
reaching here from La
Paz, the administrative
capital of Bolivia, the
victims were local
peasants. Among the 46
dead were five children.
Police said it was one
of the worst traffic
accidents, with the
causes still unknown.
Witnesses said the truck
was traveling at high
speed when it left the
road.
On June 22, two
cliff-fall accidents
happened in Bolivia and
killed more than 39
people.
