Latin American Lawmakers
Want Cuban 5 Free
Members of Parliament
from 15 Latin American
and Caribbean countries
firmly supported in
Panama the cause of five
Cuban anti-terrorist
fighters unfairly
imprisoned in the United
States almost a decade
ago.
Regional lawmakers
concluded Monday debates
on the case, and in the
final declaration they
demanded from US
authorities the
immediate release of
those men.
The document states
unfair efforts by the US
justice system to keep
the Five in prison,
violating all principles
of internationally
recognized law.
They also approved an
extensive plan of
activities to break the
wall of disinformation
imposed by United States
regarding the case and
reinforce actions to end
injustice against the
Cuban Five.
"We are satisfied for
the development of the
meeting and the welcome
given by the Panamanian
National Assembly,"
Cuban Parliament
President Ricardo
Alarcon said at a news
conference.
In the Monday plenary
session, Mexican and
Dominican Republic
delegations offered to
be venues of the next
meeting, after stating
the need of carrying out
at least one every year
faced with Washington"s
arrogance.
