Triplets Drown in Pool in Panama
The 1 1/2-year-old triplets of an Italian U.N. World Food Program official drowned at a home on the outskirts of Panama City, officials said Monday.

The three children, two girls and a boy, chased their dog out into the yard Sunday and fell into the pool, said Alejandro Lopez Chicheri, the program's spokesman in Panama. He declined to give further details.

"The family is completely destroyed ... and requests privacy," he said.

He did not identify the family by name, but said the children were Italian citizens whose father worked at the World Food Program in Panama.

Chicheri said the children's father was not in Panama at the time, but their mother and other relatives were at the house.

Prosecutor Eduardo Guevara said the deaths were being investigated, but appeared to be accidental.
