Venezuela Articulates
Revolution
The design and
activation of a strategy
before the next regional
elections is a priority
Tuesday for the United
Socialist Party of
Venezuela (PSUV),
immersed in the official
constitution's final
debates.
In the framework of the
organization's
foundational congress,
created Saturday and to
be run until mid March,
the Republic's President
Hugo Chavez called to
unify forces with the
reactivation of the
Patriotic Pole.
For the statesman, to
elect about 600 posts of
governors, mayors and
deputies to legislative
councils it is necessary
to maintain the
positions already
achieved and advance
where possible.
That is one of the key
points for discussions
in the PSUV grassroots
organizations, as part
of the congress' working
program.
Representatives from
Homeland for All and the
Communist Party of
Venezuela (PVC) defended
the Patriotic Pole,
where several social
movements also support
Chavez.
For Deputy Mario Isea,
coordinator of the
socialist bloc at the
National Assembly,
candidates to several
posts to be disputed in
elections must attend
with unitary formulas.
On the other hand, PCV
general secretary Oscar
Figuera estimated that
the main effort is to
"build spaces of unity
and revolutionary
articulation among
different forces
supporting the process."
