and Integration held in
Brazil is considered an
important step for
regional integration,

Saturday.
With the headline An
Unusual Summit the
newspaper El Tiempo
noted that this type of
meeting was held for the
first time without the
presence of US and the
European Union.
It added the meeting
brought up practical
mechanisms to move
toward eventual creation
of a Latin America and
Caribbean Union.
For the first time the
meeting has gained
progress in declarations
and proposals that
perhaps because of the
impact of the global
crisis went further than
previously and openly
discussed creation of a
Latin America and
Caribbean Union in clear
competetion with the
