Residents Angered By
Heavy Trucks Using Side
Streets To Avoid Traffic
Congestion
Residents of Hatillo 5
have had enough of the
daily transit of heavy
trucks through their
neighbourhood and have
sent Costa Rican
president, Oscar Arias,
a letter, pleading his
intervention in the
matter.
The heavy trucks take
through the side streets
of the neighbourhood
located on the south
side of San José to
avoid the heavy
congestion on the
circunvalación (righ
road).
Tractor trailers zoom by
at high speed on the
side streets, streets
used by schoolchildren,
according to the Comité
de Vecinos y la Escuela
Miguel de Cervantes
Saavedra, who prepared
the letter.
Hatillo 5 takes in the
rotunda Alajuelita in
front Plaza America and
completely jammed every
afternoon.
The director of the
school, Patricia
Delgado, said she
obtained 175 signatures.
Viviana Martín,
vice-minister of
Transportes, said that
she personally would
follow up the complaint
by the residents and
offer a solution very
soon.
"I do not like to give a
specific time to resolve
the problem, a many
areas need similar
attention, however, the
resident of Hatillo can
be sure that we will
look into what is going
on with the truckers",
said Martín.
