Honduras to Drill Oil in
Caribbean
Honduras will begin
drilling for oil when
its maritime borders
with Cuba and Nicaragua
are defined, President
Manuel Zelaya confirmed
Monday.
The Honduran president
ratified the proposed
energy search before
traveling to New York to
participate in the 62nd
UN General Assembly.
"When we sign the treaty
of maritime delimitation
with Cuba and The Hague
settles the dispute with
Nicaragua on parallel
15, the Honduras
government will initiate
oil drilling on the
continental platform of
the Caribbean Sea," he
emphasized.
The continual increase
of price of oil - around
$82 barrel - caused
Honduras to hurriedly
decide to prospect,
since the rise hits
non-oil producing
