Zapote Bulls Cost More Today
The concessionaire that provides the bull entertainment at the Zapote fair has decided to cash in on the last days of the event, raising the entry price from ¢4.000 colones to ¢10.000 colones for the shows on Sunday and Monday.

The concessionaire told the press that the move was to thwart off the scalpers and assure that the prices will not go any higher for the last day of the fair.

The "toros a la tica" are a favourite of the annual Zapote fair, attracting thousands each day to the stadium for the two shows and tens of thousands more who watch the bulls at home on their television sets.

Last year the Zapote fair was cancelled when the Ministerio de Salud (Health Ministry) would not issue permits for the old redondel (bull ring) and the entire fair was cancelled, for what's Zapote without the bulls.

For this year, a new permanent redondel was built, properly constructed using cement and steel, nothing like the old wooden structure that was erected only to be used temporarily.

The new redondel sit 4.500 people for each show.
