210 Years! For Monteverde
Massacre
The Tribunales de Puntarenas
yesterday sentenced, Erlyn
Hurtado, to 210 years prison for
the "massacre" in Monteverde on
08 March 2005. However, Hurtado
will only have to serve five
decades of the sentence as
stipulated in the Código Penal
de Costa Rica (Costa Rican Penal
Code).
Thousands braved the
cold to party with the
Black Eyed Peas at the
Saprissa stadium last
night. Nor the cold or
the lousy sound system
kept the crowd away the
"Monkey Business"
concert. The Black Eyed
Peas were triple winners
at the 2006 American
Music Awards on Tuesday
night. The hip-hop
quartet was named
favorite group twice, in
the rap/hip hop and
soul/rhythm & blues
categories. They also
won favorite rap/hip-hop
album for "Monkey
Business." The group
appeared on the awards
show via satellite
before their concert to
acknowledge their

Fiscal General Rejects Blame in
Mora Murder Case
The Fiscal General (chief
prosecutor), Francisco
Dall’Anesse, maintains that the
courts failed in the case of the
Ivannia Mora murder and not the
prosecutor's office and police,
whom the court justices say
failed to make a case and set
free six of the men accused of
the crime.

The cold front from the north

plans for a 50.000 square metre
development in Punta de Papagayo
(Guanacaste) with an investment
of us$100 million dollars for a

minister), Roberto Dobles,
announced that Costa Rica will
compete with Guatemala and
Panama in a bid to become the
headquarters for a regional
refinery that is worth some us$7
