Baby, Its Cold!
The cold front from the north took over the Central Valley last night, with strong ice cold winds, dipping the thermometer to a chilling low of 14 Celsius (57 Fahrenheit). Normal night time temperatures at this time of the year is 19 - 21 Celsius (66 to 69 Fahrenheit).

Strong winds caused damage in parts of Santa Bárbara de Heredia, where a tree was toppled and damaged the roof of a home. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

Outside the Central Valley, in Puntarenas, winds reached a high of 54 Km/h, while in San José the highest wind was recorded at 45 Km/h.

Damaged power lines due to the high winds caused interruption of electrical power in many areas of San José. Paseo Colon was without electrical power for most of the morning Tuesday, while service in Sabana, Pavas and Escazú was restored just after daybreak.

The Instituto Meteoróligo Nacional (IMS) is blaming cold air from the north and will be with us for a few days more. A jacket is must. In some areas like Moravia and the high areas of Escazú and Heredia, a coat and several lawyers of blankets will keep you warm.
