Caracas - The
Venezuelan Socialist Youth (JPSUV) said in a
communique that it was the target of a
fascist plan by national and international
ultra rightwing forces that includes the
assassination of its leaders.
"They attack us constantly in the belief
that by assassinating our comrades they will
destroy our ideas, our hands lacerated by
the elements harbor hope in neighborhoods, a
child's smile, the strength of a mother
looking at an uncertain horizon," the
document says.
According to the communique, published by
the Bolivarian News Agency, the
assassinations of Junior Hermoso, Yuban
Ortega and Luis Vazquez are direct harsh
blows to the grassroots of the United
Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and
especially its youth leaders.
"The pieces of lead found in Junior
Hermoso's body are aimed at killing our
dreams, but here we are, those who have no
voice, shouting loudly, demanding justice,"
said the communique.
Hermoso was shot dead on Saturday, while he
was working in the PSUV registration
campaign in the Caracas sector of Caricuao.
Yuban Ortega was shot in the head and passed
away in early May, after being agonizing for
two days in a hospital in the state of
Merida.
He was the president of the Federation of
University Centers at the Ejido
Technological Institute (IUTE) and was
wounded during a demonstration. Authorities
arrested nine police officers allegedly
involved in the crime.
Luis Vasquez, aged 28, died in March after
being shot at the Faculty of Political and
Juridical Sciences of the University of
Carabobo, during the elections to choose the
dean and the representative of the students'
assemblies
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ordered an
in-depth investigation to find the
assassins, who will be tried according to
the Venezuelan law. |
