Free Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery
For the first time in Costa Rica, those
needing plastic or reconstructive surgery,
but do not have the funds to cover the
expense, will have an opportunity and at no
or reduced cost
Beginning today and through May 26, the
Federación Iberolatinoamericana de Cirugía
Plástica, will be taking applications for
the procedures performed by doctors who will
not charge their fees and in some cases, the
costs of the clinic will also be waived.
Giovanny Montoya, president of the
Asociación Costarricense de Cirugía Plástica,
Reconstructiva y Estética (Accpre) -
association of plastic and reconstructive
surgeons - explained that that is a program
that takes in 23 countries and that 1 of the
45 plastic surgeons in Costa Rica have
agreed to participate in the program.
"The objective is to perform social work",
said Montoya.
Persons with burns, cuts and malformations
will have an opportunity to get the surgery.
The free surgery will not be offered to
those who are seeking implants or
liposuction, for instance, according to
Montoya.
Those interested can call 2208-1766 to
register and submit their application for
consideration.
Montoya added that there is no age limit,
the free surgery will be extended to
children, youths and adults.
