Costa Rican Health Officials Fear That Boston Chorus May Have Infected In Costa Rica

Costa Rican health authorities are looking for students of a private college and anyone who came into contact with a chorus from Boston, who were in Costa Rica, as they of the chorus members are infected with the A/H1N1 virus.

José Miguel Rojas, director of the División de Desarrollo de Servicios de Salud de la CCSS, confirmed that chorus made a series of presentation, visiting a number of places.

Rojas said when the chorus arrived in Costa Rica, three were already displaying symptoms of the flu and were confirmed to be infected when the returned to the United States.

"We are investigating to determine the places they visited adn how many they came into contact with", said Rojas.

The ministra de Salud, María Luisa Ávila, explained that following the death of the first victim attributed to the A/H1N1 virus, controls at the border points have been reinforced.

In addition, the minister said, the Servicio Civil is hiring more people to face the situation.
