Bolivia Intensifies Anti-dengue Campaign

La Pa - Bolivian health authorities confirmed Saturday the anti-dengue campaign continues to be intensified in Bolivia, with nearly 40,000 dengue cases since January.

National Epidemiology Director Eddy Martinez explained it is about a cleaning campaign, as part of a permanent struggle to definitively remove the Aedes Aegypti mosquito larval breeding sites, dengue fever vector.

The campaign takes places mainly in rural areas of the region of Santa Cruz, the hardest hit, and also in Riberalta (Beni), Tarija and Cochabamba.

Health Minister Ramiro Tapia explained the campaign against dengue spread will continue without changes, fumigating cities and tropical towns.

The health official stressed the international cooperation, mainly from Cuba and Venezuela, and Ecuador, country that recently joined this cooperation.
