Mounted Police Frustrate "Paseo Millionario"

The mounted unit of the Fuerza Pública came to the rescue of a woman victim of the well known "paseo millionario", where assailants kidnap their vicitms for a visit to various automated teller machines to take out as much as cash as possible before being set free.

In Friday's case, a woman, whose identity is being protected, found herself in the hands of two assailants whose intent was the paseo millionario. The attack occurred in the Sabana Sur.

"They wanted to take my car and threatened me with a gun, I screamed and was able to free myself of them", said the woman.

A nearby mounted police unit came to the rescue within minutes of the alert and had the men in custody.

Police authorities say that the paseo millionarios increase during pay periods, where there is cash on hand or in the bank accounts.

The mounted police unit is based in the Parque La Sabana.
