Three More Tremors Shake Southern Zone

The ground in the southern zone continues to shake, as three more major tremors were felt yesterday, beginning a little after midnight Friday.

The first recorded tremor was at 12:03 am Friday, registerding 4.6 on the Richter Scale, followed by a 4.9 shake at 10:54am and the strongest registering 5.4 at 11.33am.

Yesterday's tremors followed up the 6.3 on Wednesday (March 11) at 11:24am and another, registering 5.2, at 3:04pm. Since the first on Wedesday, there have been almost 100 afteshocks, according to the Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (OVSICORI).

Yesterday's tremors were felt in the Central Valley, causing some buildings to be evacuated. Again.

Fortunately, the tremors that have been hitting the area of Golfito and the Panama border are all of consirable depth and distance from populated areas to cause any major damage.
