El Salvador FMLN to Close Campaign

San Salvador -  The Farabundo Marti Front for National Liberation (FMLN) of El Salvador starts the closure of its electoral campaign for the presidential elections on March 15 in this Central American country.

Coming from different departments, the caravans will arrive in the capital in the afternoon to support FMLN, currently the country's top political force, after the municipal and legislative elections on January 18.

The culmination of the marches will be an activity in which FMLN secretary general Medardo Gonzalez and the candidates for president and vicepresident, Mauricio Funes y Salvador Sánchez Cerén, will speak.

The Juan Pablo II park in San Salvador will be the site of the meeting, which will finish with a musical carnival, said campaign head Roberto Lorenzana.

A total of 700,000 citizens will take part in the celebration.

The electoral schedule establishes that campaigning must conclude on Wednesday.

Nearly 4.2 million Salvadorans will vote on March 15 and according to official calculations, attendance to the ballot boxes will exceed 60 percent.
