PAC Leadership
Race Will Be Decided On May 31 By Open
Convention
The Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC), in a
history event, decided at yesterday's
meeting to hold an open convention to choose
its leader for
the 2010 presidential elections. Since its
founding in 2000, the party has elected its
leader behind closed doors for the last two
elections.
The party's national assembly decided to
hold an open convention on May 31 and anyone
who has registered to with the party
leadership election as of April 30 will be
able to case their vote.
The party was founded by Ottón Solís, who
also led the party into the last two
elections, bringing him a hairs shy of the
presidential seat in 2006 and establishing
the party as the official opposition.
Solís, so far, is the only inscribed
candidate to seek the party nomination,
although Epsy Campbell, along with Román
Macaya and Luis Hernández, are expected to
make their candidacy official now that the
vote is open.
Solís said yesterday that the party has been
picking up momentum during the last two
years and is in the process of developing.
The candidates will have a little over a
month to get the support of potential voters
who will decide who will lead them in 2010.
