Targets Paramilitaries
Caracas - The Venezuelan United Socialist
Party (PSUV) announced it backs measures adopted by
the president to combat paramilitary forces in the
country.
PSUV vice president, Elias Jaus told the press that
this scourge is backed by the opposition, the cattle
breeding sector, trade and civilian associations
that finance these armed groups of foreign origin,
mainly from Colombia.
Paramilitary forces have caused much pain and
sadness in this sister nation and that is why we
oppose their presence in our territory, he said.
Any measure adopted within the framework of the Law
and the Constitution by President Hugo Chavez and
the rest of the direction of the country will be
supported by PSUV.
Recently the minister of the Interior and Justice,
Tareck el Aissami assured that security institutions
will act with determination to thwart any
secessionist or paramilitary initiative in Tachira.
Chavez also warned of secessionist plans the
Venezuelan oligarchy intends to revive in the states
of Zulia and Tachira.
We are not going to permit Tachira or Zulia to
become beehives of paramilitary forces, affirmed the
president in his habitual Sunday program, Alo
Presidente.
He explained that "the counterrevolution is obsessed
with importing violence and gunmen and wants to live
like Colombian paramilitaries, and we are not going
to allow it."
He called on the governors to assume their
responsibility adding that these purposes will be
thwarted by the people, the Armed Forces and the
Constitution to confront those plans. |
