Processing Reduction In Electrical Rates
The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) is processing a drop in
electrical rates of between 10% and 14%, a
reduction that will be applied to all
electricity customers in the country.
Customers of the Cooperativa de
Electrificación Rural de San Carlos R. L. (Coopelesca
R.L.) will see the lowest of the reduction
(10%), while customers of the Empresa de
Servicios Públicos de Heredia (ESPH) will
see the highest (14%).
All the other electrical service supplier
customers will see a drop of 13%, save for
direct customers of the Instituto
Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) whose
electrical bills will drop 12%.
The Aresp will be holding public hearings
for July 23 and 24 to discuss the reduction.
Using videconferencing, the Aresep will give
the public a chance to voice their opinion
by visiting the Tribunales de Justicia
offices in Limón, Heredia, Ciudad Quesada,
Santa Cruz, Puntarenas, Pérez Zeledón and
Cartago. Other video conferences will also
be set up in outlying places like Bribrí and
Tarrazú.
The conference will begin at 5pm, where
anyone opposed to the reduction can present
their position in writing or orally during
the video conference.
A reduction approval would follow the public
hearings.
