Cuba Reveres Panama Parliamentarian
Panama - Former
Panamanian deputy to Parliament, Carlos
Alvarado Acosta, deceased in July 2008, will
posthumously receive the Order of Solidarity
awarded by the Cuban government during a
special session of the National Assembly on
June 17, informed parliamentary sources.
The recognition of former Panamanian
Parliamentary president is in answer to a
proposal made by Kenia Serrano, head of the
Cuban Institute of Friendship with the
Peoples (ICAP).
The order is conferred on Alvarado "for
having been a tireless promoter of
strengthening relations between both
countries, a paradigm and true friend in
favor of the just cause" of the people of
this island.
The ceremony will include State ministers,
magistrates, sports friends and family
relatives.
Alvarado presided the National Assembly
twice as well as the Treasury, Trade and
Budget Commissions in addition to five other
