Nicaragua Tourism Fights Crisis

Managua - National and international representatives of tourism sector will analyze the impact of the world crisis and its repercussion on tourism, both worldwide and regionally, confirmed an official source.

According to Karina Ramirez, official of the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), Granada, about 60 kilometers south of the capital, will host the 10th Forum of Integration and Tourism Development of Central America and the Dominican Republic June 22 and 23.

About 150 representatives of national and international tourism agencies, including the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Taleb Rifai, will analyze subjects such as the impact of the world crisis on the sector, she informed.

Considered a potential force of the economy in the region, the participants will search for alternatives and actions to keep tourism as an important source of income.

During the event, business persons of the so-called smokeless industry, ministers and representatives from different countries will deal with confronting the crisis, explained the Nicaraguan official.

The event will close in the island of Ometepe on July 23 in support of its nomination as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
