FMLN Mandate for El Salvador Dignity

San Salvador - The Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) has the challenge of dignifying the country and organizing people to contribute to a process underway, said Salvadorian Government Minister Humberto Centeno.

In an interview for Prensa Latina, Centeno noted that challenge entails the fulfillment of all the promises made during the electoral campaign.

People were constantly marginalized, repressed, and tortured by the agricultural aristocracy, the 14 historic families of El Salvador, and the oppressive financial elite, he remarked.

The victory achieved, he stressed, allowed the coming of a new administration on June 1, defeating the most recalcitrant rightwing in Latin America.

The current reality is the beginning of a new stage, an expression of courage, and a challenge for all revolutionaries, Centeno added.

"We must stand by the people everyday, and cannot lock ourselves in the offices, with good pay and luxuries," the minister stressed.
