Chavez urges to reflect on crisis in Honduras

Caracas - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez urged the Honduran "militaries and coup plotters" to think about the situation in the country, after they impeded the landing of the ousted President Manuel Zelaya's plane, local media reported on Monday.

Speaking to TV channel Telesur, Chavez said that Zelaya's attempt to land in Honduras abroad a

Venezuelan plane was a victory, because "they (the coup plotters) do not dare to touch him even a hair."

He also described the coup plotters and militaries who impeded Zelaya's landing at the international airport of Tocontin in Tegucigalpa Monday as "cowards."

Chavez wondered how a military junta can challenge the world, referring to condemnation against the coup in Honduras made by many Latin American countries and international organizations.

The president urged Honduran militaries to lay down their arms and not to threaten the lives of their compatriots.
