Tegucigalpa - The National Front
against the coup in Honduras convened Monday
a new rally in defense of constitutional
order, amid a hardening of the repression by
the de facto regime.
Union, rural, student, political, human
rights organizations and others carried out
Sunday a mass demonstration to demand the
return of President Manuel Zelaya.
The statesman traveled from Washington to
this capital, but the aircraft that brought
him could not land, as troops were deployed
at the Toncontin international airport to
block the runway.
Zelaya confirmed his return in several
messages sent to the popular resistance
which, since his abduction and transfer to
Costa Rica by the coup perpetrators on June
28, has been rallying every day in defense
of democratic legality.
Incidents among armed forces and
demonstrators took place in the southern
entrance of the airport. Soldiers shot and
killed two young people, while others were
injured. The de facto government extended
hours of the curfew and suspension of
several constitutional guarantees from 18:30
hours to 05:00 hours of the following day.
The Radio Globo station, which transmitted
Zelaya's messages and expressions of
repudiation to the coupists from the
population, only broadcast music or messages
from the de facto government since yesterday
afternoon.
