Latin America Lives a Magical
Moment

America is living a magical moment, a true change of era free from
the impositions and recipes derived from the Washington Consensus.
Participating in the ninth meeting of the World Social Forum in the
Brazilian city of Belem the president insisted in the defense of a
socialist model whereby the state rescues its role of planning to
boost social justice.
During another moment of his speech the Ecuadorian president
highlighted the importance of the Union of South American nations
and the Banco del Sur as routes of strategic integration to confront
the present economic world crisis and the traditional mechanisms of
domination.
He also called for the preservation of the Amazon that is victim of
depredation and voracity of the great powers. The Amazon jungle is
considered the lungs of the planet, he emphasized.
Directing words to a large audience of activists of social movements
of the world, the Ecuadorian president, expressed praise of the
current processes of change occurring in Latin America and,
particularly, the Cuban Revolution and its foremost leader, Fidel
Castro.
These processes, Correa emphasized, feed on the struggle of the
social movements of the World Social Forum, birthplace of dreams
against the model of injustice and death that neo liberalism
represents. |
