Tribunal Rules Out Politicking For PLN Candidates Until May
The magistrates of the Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) - elections tribunal - put the hold on the pre-election campaign of those aspiring to lead the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) party into the 2010 presidential elections.

The tribunal said that the PLN and other political parties cannot commence their political campaigns until May 31.

The notice was given to the president of the PLN party, Francisco Antonio Pacheco, as aspirants to the party leadership began politicking this week.

In the forefront is former vice-president, Laura Chinchilla, who is battling out the party leadership with San Jose mayor, Johnny Araya and former security minister in the Arias administration, Fernando Berrocal and Carlos Francisco Echeverría.

Araya announced earlier this week that he is taking a leave of absence from his mayorship to focus on the campaign.
