Social Projects for
Rural Nicaragua
Managua - Over 16,000
Nicaraguan families will
benefit this year from
social programs being
enforced by the
Sandinista government in
rural areas to secure
vegetables, milk, meat
and egg production.
La Primerisima radio
station on Wednesday
quoted Gustavo Moreno,
Agriculture and Forestry
Ministry program
director, who said
48,359 families will get
a Food Production Bond
in 2009.
The plan, to be
implemented along the
five-year government,
will benefit a total of
75,000 families.
The aid to some 32,359
families in 2008
consisted of poultry,
cattle, pig and seeds,
and another 5,000 bonds
will go to families in
Coco river, at the north
border with Honduras.
The beneficiaries have
so far produced 15,000
calves, 26,000 piglets,
near three million eggs
and three million cups
of milk nation wide.
