Cuba Appoints 3 Vice
Presidents of Council of Ministers
Havana - Cuba's Council of State
appointed three vice presidents of the Council of Ministers,
according to a statement published Friday by local media.
The newly appointed vice presidents of the Council of Ministers were
Ramiro Valdes, Ulises Rosales and Jorge Luis Sierras, who were
information and communications minister, agriculture minister and
transport minister, respectively.
The nominations were proposed by President Raul Castro, who had "a
previous consultation with the Political Bureau of the Communist
Party of Cuba."
The nominations "aimed to distribute in a more effective way between
the members of the Executive Committee and the Council of Ministers
the responsibility of the central administration organs of the
State," the statement said.
In February 2008, Raul Castro took power and announced that he would
restructure the cabinet.
Since then he had made changes in the education, foreign investment,
economic collaboration and agriculture sectors.
