Inacio Lula da Silva is expected to pay a
work visit to Buenos Aires on Thursday to
attend the Third Presidential Meeting of the
Brazil-Argentina Bilateral Integration and
Coordination Mechanism, according to a
Brazilian Foreign Ministry communication.
The document adds that the Mechanism
currently has over 20 projects, including a
payment system using local currencies and
the cooperation among the National Economic
and Social Development Bank, the Bank of the
Nation and the Investment and Foreign Trade
Bank.
It also includes the Garabi hydroelectric
project and several collaborative defense
plans, nuclear energy, space, health,
transportation and science and technology.
"The Integration and Coordination Mechanism
meetings constitute an opportunity for heads
of State to review priority issues of the
bilateral agenda. The direct participation
of presidents gives a greater political
impetus to the implementation of cooperation
projects," notes the document.
Lula is expected in Buenos Aires Wednesday
night and meet with his Argentine peer
Cristina Fernandez at Casa Rosada at 10:55
