Gasoline Price
Drops ¢3 Today, Goes Up ¢13 Next
Month
The good news is that beginning today a
litre of super gasoline costs ¢3 colones
less, but that "huge" drop won't last too
long, as soon it will increase by ¢13
colones, according to a price change request
being reviewed by the Autoridad Reguladora
de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep).
Last month the Aresep approved the ¢3
colones price drop for super and ¢29 for a
litre of diesel which went into effect
today, changing the price of gasoline at the
pumps to ¢386 from ¢415 for a litre of super
and ¢415 from ¢479 for a litre of diesel.
The price of regular or plus remains
unchanged at ¢474 colones a litre.
The drop is being attributed to the drop in
the price of crude oil international
markets.
However, the Aresep is now considering a
request for a 3% price increase for gasoline
and 11.6% for diesel, again based on price
changes on international markets.
If that increase is approved it would mean a
price hike at the pumps of ¢13 for a litre
of super, ¢15 for regular and ¢45 for
diesel.
The new prices would take effect by the
middle of May.
