Electoral Court in Panama Ready for Polls

Panama -The Electoral Court of Panama is focusing on the preparations for election day, May 3, where 1, 594 positions will be subject to the decision of 2.2 million people.

A specialized personnel works hard to enlist the inputs and sensitive materials that will be used in the voting.

Also, they are ahead actions for the distribution of resources, together to the training of facilitators of the political parties, observers and members of the public force to guarantee the security of the process.

In the field of the candidates, the arrival of April represents the beginning of a decisive phase in the efforts to consolidate positions and look for bigger acceptance among those who still remain in the field of the undecided.

In May 3 Panamanians will choose the President and Vice-president, besides 71 deputies to the National Assembly, 75 mayors, 623 representatives, seven councilmen and 20 legislators to the Central American Parliament.

An analysis of the electoral entity highlighted that in the county of Panama 33 deputies will be chosen, followed by Chiriquí (nine), Coclé, Columbus and Veraguas with five each, the District Ngobe Buglé and Herrera (three), Bocas del Toro, Darién, Los Santos and Kuna Yala (two).

Regarding the mayors, the biggest quantity to choose corresponds to Chiriquí (13), followed by Veraguas (12), Panama (11), Herrera and Los Santos with seven each one.

Up to now, it is scheduled that for the vote, 5,613 tables will be enabled in 2,382 voting centers, together to 1,706 Panamanians that will exercise the vote abroad.
