BRAZIL - Union
representatives of Sao
Paulo police agents in
Brazil rejected Thursday
a state government
proposal and reported
they would continue on
strike.
Those on strike since
September 16 are
demanding a decent wage
and said they would
continue for an
unlimited period, and
the street
demonstrations would
increase.
Civil police agents said
they rejected the
proposals because the
government wanted to
benefit the military
police that suppressed
them last week in front
of the Bandeirantes
Palace.
Social Democrat Governor
Jose Sierra, who said
the protest involves
political interests, has
not commented on the
strikers decision, at a
time when the city gets
ready for the second
round of municipal
elections to be held on
Sunday. |
